Associate Superintendent for Operations
Jim Grillo joined the Office of Catholic Schools for the Diocese of Richmond as the Associate Superintendent for Operations in August 2024. He brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to Catholic education, having previously served as a high school teacher, athletic director, and department coordinator at St. Edmund Prep in the Diocese of Brooklyn and most recently as the Principal of Holy Trinity Diocesean High School in Hicksville, New York (Diocese of Rockville Centre). Jim’s professional journey reflects a profound dedication to fostering environments where faith and education intertwine seamlessly. He has effectively led initiatives that promote service learning, faith formation, and community engagement, always setting an example consistent with Catholic teachings.
Outside the school setting, Jim is an accomplished sports official, having umpired Independent Professional Baseball in various leagues across the United States and Canada. He continues to work as an NCAA Baseball umpire in multiple conferences. Jim also spent nine seasons on the court as an NCAA Women’s Basketball referee and currently serves as an observer of officials for both regular season and NCAA tournament games.
Jim holds a Masters Degree in Kinesiology (Sport Management) from Brooklyn College-City University of New York and a Masters Degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from Fordham University, where he was a part of the Catholic School Leadership Cohort. He and his wife, Megan, reside in Henrico County.
